The Front Door is Open to Sustainable House Signs

House signs and sustainability aren’t often mentioned together, but at The Bespoke Sign House, we’re committed to minimising emissions, reducing non-recyclable waste, and shrinking our environmental footprint. We take responsibility to make our high-quality bespoke house signs as sustainably as possible.

What Does Sustainability Mean?

In essence, a sustainable business is an enterprise that has minimal impact on the environment. Some examples of sustainable business practices include:

Collapsible content

Packaging for Shipping

Such as using 100% eco-friendly, biodegradable paper for packaging.

Sustainably Sourced Materials

Such as using FSC-rated wood, or re-using plastic from bottletops.

Manufacturing Efficiency

This can include sourcing stock from local suppliers, water conservation or just being mindful with electricity use.

It’s important to recognise that sustainability isn’t quite as black and white as many would like to believe. It’s not an overnight process of making every aspect of a business fully green and eco-friendly, but instead is a journey of assessing, revising, and improving to better green standards.

In our industry of house sign makers, sustainable practices aren’t something that’s talked about anywhere near enough. Because of this, we’re striving to drive forward and lead by example to have a positive impact on the environment.

What Steps Have We Taken Towards Sustainability?

The Bespoke Sign House has already taken decisive steps to minimise waste and ensure our business is as sustainable as we can viably make it. Slate is now the main material used for our signs, with no chemical emissions needed for extraction, while being durable, natural, and easily recyclable, it’s clear to see why it’s an ideal foundation for The Bespoke Sign House to build upon. To further strengthen our sustainability push, we’ve already taken further steps which go beyond the materials we use. These include:

Filling Potholes with Sign Offcuts

Our slate and granite offcuts are great at filling potholes on farms. Take a look at where one load of our offcuts ended up. Much friendlier to the environment than tarmac!

Paper Tape All the Way!

Since the beginning, we’ve wrapped our signs for delivery using paper sticky tape. It’s not only better for the environment but also much easier to work with.

Minimising Single-Use Plastic in Our Production

We've almost eliminated single-use plastic in our sign-making production process. We've got our eyes peeled looking out for plastic-free sand blast vinyl.

Only Manufacture Stone House Signs

All our house signs are crafted using natural stone (not porcelain) only.

Use Non-Plastic Wall Plugs for Our Sign Fixings

All our wall plugs included with our personalised house signs are timber-based.

What Are Our Future Goals?

Eliminating Single-Use Plastic in Our Manufacturing Process Fully

We're so close, the only plastic we use in our sign-making process is sand blast vinyl (this is used so we can engrave into the surface of slate and granite). The sooner we can get our hands on a non-plastic alternative, the better.

If you’re looking for a stunning slate sign for your home, business or garden shed, you can use one of our many slate house sign templates to design your perfect sign.
