How to Install Your New Sign [Epoxy Adhesive Glue Guide]

The postman has just delivered a package (wrapped using 100% biodegradable cardboard packaging) and it's your new personalised slate house sign, yay! But now you're wondering "how do I install this?". Don't worry, we've got you covered with this simple, quick-read guide to help you fixate your sign correctly.

What You'll Need:

    The glue can be found in your package in a brown paper bag.

    You'll need to hold the sign in place for about 5-10 minutes so it sets.

Important - Assess the Wall or Location!

Before you begin, it's a must that you make sure the surface you intend to glue your sign to is appropriate. The surface needs to be flat, smooth, and dust-free. Below we have listed which wall types work and which don't work:

SUITABLE WALL TYPES:

• wooden walls

• UPVc doors

• metal

UNSUITABLE WALL TYPES:

• brick

• pebble-dash

• concrete

• plasterboard

If you wanted your sign to have a screwless finish to it like our glue method but don't have a suitable surface, we also offer Hidden Fixings which use stainless steel rods and glue. This fixing option does require drilling into your wall.

Step 1: Cleaning the Surfaces

You've found the perfect spot to glue your sign, yay! It's now time to make sure the wall and rear of your sign are clean from dust and any loose grit. It's best to use old cloth that you don't mind getting dirty to do this.

Step 2: Applying the Glue

Tear a bit of cardboard off from the packaging your sign came in (about the size of an A4 piece of paper to play safe) and get out your 2 glue tubes.

Open the cap of either tube of glue and squeeze the contents out onto the cardboard. Do the same with the other tube, squeeze directly on top of the other glue.

Now you'll need to mix the glues together. Use anything from a stick to a paper straw (something you don't mind throwing away after).

Once mixed up nicely, scoop some glue onto the rear (the side that doesn't have engraving on) and apply all over. Repeat until the surface is covered, leaving about a 2cm gap from the edges.

Step 3: Wait

The adhesive will now do its thing and start to set. Leave it for about 10-15 minutes - we don't want the glue to fully set, but just enough so we don't have to hold it up against the wall for too long.

Step 4: Holding in Place

Now the glue has partially set, pick up the sign and level tool and go to your desired location to fix the sign. Push the sign onto the wall and hold, hold, hold. You'll need to hold for 10-15 minutes (the longer the better). Now is the time to have a look and make sure the sign is aligned using your level too.

Step 5: Admiring Your Handy Work

If all is well, your sign will stick and stay in place. The 2-piece glue is made up of adhesive resin and a hardener - so the sign will hang proudly in place nice and securely 📸
